The significance of anything is only what you make of it, what you allow it to mean.

That said, many cultures seem to identify it with passion or love. My culture equates it with hunger and power.

Red is the color of my tribe, and had no other significance other then marking land and soldiers as belonging to the Maribel.

Then to you, that is what it means. The great thing about being a being with free will is the ability to determine such things for yourself.

My world was missing a great deal of... life. I look at things and they seem different now. I do not understand.

It is hard to explain. There was no emotion. No anything. Just endless killing.

That sounds... terribly. To know nothing else but murder... I can't imagine such a life to ever be enjoyable.

It was not. I do not believe in needless slaughter, but there was no choice in the matter.

Now I have a choice.

If you don't mind my asking, what is it that you choose?

I chose to protect what is important to me. If I kill it will be because it is deserved, not because of some senseless commandment.

[Jarlaxle smiles a little. He likes this one, and sees a few similarities between them.]

I wish you luck, and joy. That is a far better path.
