Title: Millennium Dream
Chapter: 17
Fandom: YuGiOh, Sailor Moon
Character(s): Bakura Ryou, Yami Bakura, Aino Minako
Genre: Romance, adventure, action
Rating: K+/PG
Disclaimers: YuGiOh © Kazuki Takahashi, Sailor Moon © Naoko Takeuchi
Notes: This was an idea I had after watching the third Sailor Moon movie, Sailor Moon Super S the Movie: Black Dream Hole. I got the idea after thinking that Peruru from the movie looked an awful lot like Ryou Bakura, so I decided to try writing a story about it. And...it's really bad. Really.

Summary: Worlds collide when the Sailor Senshi take a trip to the city of Domino, more than any one would have guessed.

[Chapter 16]

~*~*~*~
The bitter, coppery taste was stronger in his mouth than before. He was tempted to spit it out, but he didn't dare.

Sure, they were gone, but Ryou never knew when they'd be back.

There was a sound, and Ryou opened the one eye that wasn't covered by blood. In the shadows, he could see a dark figure. The strange thing about it was that it seemed the figure had rainbow wings.

The figure stepped out to where Ryou could see him. He seemed rather young. He had short, silvery-white hair and emerald eyes, and clad in a white outfit. But Ryou couldn't stop looking at the butterfly-like wings.

"Ryou?" the person asked, sounding quite unsure.

The boy nodded.

"I'm Peruru, a Fairy Guardian of dreams."

"Peruru?"

"Hai."

"Those…things…called me that…"

"The Dream Goblins. Yes, your friend…brother…guessed that."

"Brother?"

"I think he's your brother. He looks just like you."

The dullness in Ryou's pain-filled eyes seemed to brighten slightly. "Yami?" he asked.

"Is that his name?"

"Actually, it's Yami no Bakura."

"Yami no Bakura…yes, he and Minako seem very worried about you."

"Min…Minako-san?"

"Hai."

"Ryou, thinking of Minako, tried opening his left eyes, but closed both eyes quickly, yelping quietly, when he was painfully reminded of the blood.

Peruru felt a pang in his heart. Ryou had been in his place for a few days now, and the fairy knew the Dream Goblins would treat him harshly. 'But this…? This is too much!'

Using his white sleeve, Peruru gently wiped his eye the blood that trailed down from a large wound on his forehead.

Ryou was then able to open both his eyes. "Thank you," he said quietly.

Peruru smiled sadly and nodded. He and Ryou froze, however, when they heard something nearby.

"I have to go," Peruru said. "But I'll be back with the others."

"Others?"

"Your friends. They're going to come and rescue you. So hold on, okay?"

"I don't know if I can take much more of this."

"Please, just hold on. They'll be here to rescue you, I promise. Just hold on."

Ryou nodded, and Peruru disappeared.

'Does it really have to take so many days to find Ryou?' Bakura wondered. 'Is he really that well hidden that the Fairy couldn't find him right away?'

They were all together at the park again, though not as happy as a few days since their last gathering. Each were spread out, mentally preparing for when Peruru to tell and take them to where Ryou was.

He felt a presence nearby, who then sat down next to him. He didn't need to look to see that it was Minako.

The two of them hadn't really talked since Minako-tachi learned about the spirits of the Millennium Items. Even their strong desire to save Ryou didn't encourage either to speak to each other. But the girl seemed to be trying now.

"What are you doing?" she asked, not looking at him.

He sighed, combing his fingers through his hair. "I'm…just thinking of things."

"Like what?"

He laughed scornfully. "I wish I knew. It's hard to concentrate."

"Are you worried?"

He stared at the floor for a while, then looked up at the girl. She was very attractive, and he could see why Ryou like her. "I think the question would be how can I not be worried."

She nodded, though she still refused to look at him. "I know what you mean. I can't help wondering if he'll be alright."

He still looked at her, as she continued to look at the ground. "I'm sensing guilt right now," he said.

She said nothing, neither agreeing nor denying it.

"It's not your fault, you know."

And the spirit watched as tears began to fill her eyes. "Yes it is," she said, as the tears began to fall. "I should have helped him. But they took him away. We don't know what's happening to him. He could be hurt, and it's all my fault!"

Bakura watched as Minako cried freely, her shoulders trembling with sobs. He waited until she calmed down a bit before pulling out a handkerchief and giving it to her.

"It's not your fault," he repeated as she wiped her eyes. "It's my fault for not being able to protect him."

And for the first time, she looked up at him. "What do you mean?"

"When I first found that Aibou…"

"Aibou?"

He sighed. He usually didn't call Ryou that around other people. "Ryou, my light, my other half. Like Yugi and Yami no Yugi, or Yami, as you call him. He also calls his light 'Aibou'."

"I know. Ever since we found out about you and Yami-san, he's called Yugi-san that. But you haven't. For a while, I wondered if you and Ryou-san were really close at all."

"We're close. But people don't know that."

"You don't let other people know?"

"Why should I? If I care for my Aibou, what business is that of theirs? My feelings for him are just that: for him. I don't care what people think of me as long as I know how I feel for Ryou."

"How do you feel for him?"

He looked at her. "I feel that I need to protect him. Ryou is very important to me, and he was my first true friend. Even when I hated him, tried to kill him, he cared for me. He cleared my mind, opened my heart, and freed my soul. The only way I can ever repay him is to return those feeling for him, and protect him."

His hand clenched into a tight fist then. "But I failed to do even that. He was taken from us, and I did nothing to help him!"

Minako could sense the anger and frustration in his voice. "You shouldn't blame yourself."

"You don't understand! You know of Yami and my ability to control our lights' bodies. If I could have taken over his body sooner, I could have protected him! But I hesitated, and then the Ring somehow came off, and I couldn't complete the connection!"

"Well, if the Ring came off…"

"That's not the point! I waited to help him! If I had done it sooner, he wouldn't have been taken away!"

Minako now understood why he kept telling her why it wasn't her fault. But, she knew it wasn't his fault either. "But you wanted to, and you tried. That's the important thing. When Peruru comes back to show us where Ryou-san is, you and I will go rescue him, and then everything will be okay. You'll see, we'll save him."

He looked at her, then smiled faintly. "I can see why Aibou likes you so much."

Minako felt her cheeks reddened, but she tried to ignore it. "W-what do you mean?"

A smirk appeared on his lips. "I shouldn't tell you, but Aibou has deep feelings for you."

She blushed more. "Y-you're joking, r-right?"

He shook his head. "Nope, he really likes you. And, from what I'm sensing, you like him as well, don't you?"

Her face became bright red. "I…um…h-he…I-I…"

"You do, don't you?"

"How do you know?"

He smiled smugly, gaining satisfaction that he was right. "Rei's not the only psychic, you know. Granted, I don't read minds, but I can sense and read things, and, believe me, the look on your face tells all."

She blushed, looking down at the ground. "He…does he really like me that way?"

"The first day he met you, it was 'Minako-san' this, 'Minako-san' that. He was obsessed with you."

She looked at him, then at the ground.

Bakura looked at her. "Don't worry, you'll tell him," he said, guessing what he what she was thinking. "When we save him, you'll be able to tell him."

She nodded. "So," she said, trying to change the subject, "what does Ryou-san call you?"

"He calls me 'Yami.' But that's only because he's the only person who calls Yami 'Yami no Yugi.'"

"I can see where it gets confusing. So, what does everyone else call you?"

"'Yami no Bakura.' But you can call me 'Bakura' for short."
