Pop Quiz
“Alright class… Pop Quiz!”
Crap, I think to myself, I didn’t get a chance to do the reading last night. You’d think that saving the world night after night would earn you some sort of free pass when it comes to pop quizzes but nope, I never even get a simple thank you. Too bad I can’t use the Ginzuishou for everyday purposes… can I? I mean it is mine and it’s been used before to grant my wishes.
You know what, it can’t hurt to try. I clutch the brooch with both hands and start quietly chanting, “let me get an A on the quiz, let me get and A on the quiz, let me get an A on . . .
"Alright class, times up, please pass your papers to the front.”
I quickly glance at the blank piece of paper. Crap!
Chemistry
His heart races. He tries to bury his want and need but his will stretches. Finally, he feels it break. As it shatters he presses his mouth to hers, hot and sweet. They’ve been playing this game far too long. Advancing, retreating, and advancing again. Until eventually they were both consumed by desire. His mouth roams, provoking sensations she had only guessed existed. The world was spinning, sparkling, exploding like a chemical reaction.
Experiment
“Usagi, why do you need to go to the bookstore again?”
“Because I’m working on a little experiment and Ami said that you can learn anything you might need to know from a book.”
“What exactly do you need to know?”
“Um, you know… stuff.”
“What kind of ‘stuff’?”
“Well… last night, Mamo-chan didn’t want to… you know… and I’m worried that maybe he’s bored so I want to spice up…”
Minako cut her off, understanding dawning on her face. "Ah ha! I get it now! You're trying to get into Mamoru's pants!"
“Do you have to put it so bluntly?!”
“It’s just funny. I’m sure you have nothing to worry about, I see the way he looks at you.”
“See this is why I wasn’t going to tell you. I knew you wouldn’t take it seriously.”
“I can be serious. I’ll even help you come up with a plan. I am the Senshi of Love after all.
Books
“Here, let’s start with these.”
“Romance novels?”
“You wanted books right? Well trust me, these books are the best suited for your particular needs.”
“There’s no way I’m going to have time to read all of these.”
“I’ve folded down the corners on all the good pages. So just skip to those.”
“When did you have time to do that, you only found out about my problem a few minutes ago.”
“That’s not important. We need to focus on the task at hand. Everything you need to know about seduction can be found in those books.”
“Ok, as long as you’re sure.”
“Trust me. The shower scene on page 152 of that fist book is particularly steamy. You should try that one tonight.”
Result
“Never fear, Nurse Mina is here!”
“Thanks for coming over on such short notice Mina.” Mamoru whispered as he quietly ushered the bubbly blond inside. “I shouldn’t be gone very long but I didn’t want to leave her here alone. She’s still a little, um, awkward with the crutches and if she falls she’ll probably just make things worse.”
“It’s no problem Mamoru. Nurse Mina is always glad to lend a helping hand! How did she break her ankle anyway?”
“Uh, she um,” Mamoru stuttered while turning bright red, “You know what; I’ll let her explain that. Bye!” And with that he breezed out the door.
Mina quickly walked down the hallway to check on her patient. She opened the bedroom door and was greeted by a flying pink pillow hitting her in the face.
“What was that for, Usagi?” she asked sternly.
“That is for causing me to break my ankle! This is all your fault!”
“All my fault?” Mina intoned mystified.
“Yes! You’re the one that gave me the book!”
“What are you talking about? Did they put you on some sort of medication that makes you go crazy? I don’t even know how you broke your ankle so it can’t possibly be my fault. How did it happen anyway?”
“I don’t want to talk about it.” Usagi mumbled, turning almost as red as Mamoru had earlier.
“Come on… if you tell me I’ll have Makato bring you some cookies”
“Well…”
“Quit stalling and spit it out!”
“Let’s just say that shower sex is not nearly as romantic as your romance novel made it out to be. It’s actually quite slippery and um, dangerous.”
Question
It’s odd. You’d think that knowing the future would make this easier. I mean I have a pretty good idea of what her answer will be. Still, I want it to be perfect. What if this isn’t the right time or the right place? What if it doesn’t live up to the picture she has in her mind about this moment? Maybe it’s too soon. Maybe I should wait until I get back from America. Maybe I should just grow a pair and do it now before it’s too late.
I pull the rose out of my subspace pocket and hand it to her, holding my breath as she glances hesitantly at the ring nestled between the petals.
“Usako” I breath, “will you marry me?”
Frog
“A frog?”
“Yes, a frog.”
“A frog!”
“What’s wrong with being a frog?”
“Mina, when I agreed to coordinate costumes I didn’t expect to be a frog.”
“But going as the Princess and the Frog will be so cute!”
“For you! Why can’t I be the princess?”
“You’re already a princess Usa-chan so it’s only fair that I get to be the princess this time. Besides your hairstyle works perfectly for the frog eyes, you know because a frog’s eyes are kind of on top of its head just like your odangos.”
“Don’t call them odangos!” Pffft.
“See, you even stick your tongue out like a frog. Now all we need is some green body paint.”
Element
She felt the waves of power wash over her and the dress swishing around her ankles. The transformation was complete. She was graceful, confident, and powerful. She was Princess Serenity and she was in her element.
