Well, obviously, I'm interested in the songfic challenge, though you're right--they do take longer to write! Since they're more like regular stories, they really have to be worked into the priority list, along with our other longer stuff (whereas drabbles can just be dropped into any open moments of inspiration). So, while I plan to continue with the challenge, it might be another month or two before I can start/finish/post another one. Still, I do hope more people will participate!
As for the songs, I think it's a great idea to spice it up! The feel of a song so often influences the story, not just the lyrics. (Would Accidentally in Love have been that crazy if the song was slow and sappy? Uh, I don't think so.) So something different is good! Even if it doesn't match everyone's taste, I assume *someone* would be into it.
I'm interested in the songfic challenge, but like you said it takes longer to write those. Plus I'm trying to focus on the 100 drabble challenge so if I write anything for it, it will be because inspirations hits and I just have to write, you know?
For the type of songs, whatever you think is best works for me. I think mixing it up would be best though, just because it's always good to have a challenge.
And speaking of icons, does anyone know of some free software I could get to make icons with. It doesn't need to be the most high tech or anything, just something I can play around with. My parents aren't into the whole program thing, it took me forever just to convince them we should get the internet...
You can also go to www.download.com and look for "Image Editor" and look at others. They have a lot of free ones and also some you have to pay for. That one there is free. I have never used it but it may be good for you. :)
Thank you so much! Now if I can convince my parents to let me download it (I use the family computer, though I'm on it the most so I think it should be mine...) I could maybe join in on the icon contests?
I tried to download the program, but it kept opening in MicrosoftWord in some weird code thing. I don't know how to get it to download properly. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
I'm still interested, just haven't had any time yet... And I'm all for variety in the songs otherwise it might get boring. Variety is the spice of life after all.
Definitely interested in the songifc challenge but as everyone has said they do take longer to do. I'm definitely planning on participating in the challenge once I'm more settled into my new full-time work routine, and once I've managed to really get my writing going again.
As for the songs, the romantic ones are good but throwing in some different ones is a good idea. It mixes things up and creates more of a challenge for the writer.
I'm in. I don't know that I will be able to do every one. Some songs are harder to find inspiration for. A one or two word theme you can take anywhere, but a song is more specific and may be a little more difficult to get a feel for.
Variety is definately good though.
Are you taking suggestions? There are a few songs I've been thinking would make great songfics, but have never gotten around to doing anything with.
I am taking suggestions, but just a hint. I think there will be a "Author's Pick" that you guys get to choose. I am saving that one for last because I might pick your song or something. :) I do have the next two picked out though... but after that I am basically always keeping my eyes and ears open for them. :) So pass along that you think are perfect, to me and I will consider them. :)
well, you can gladly use One and One for the list if you would like. I love the moon and star allusions. I have way too many favourite songs that I love to worry about you using every single one and leaving me with nothing. For my own, I'd probably pick something really random and obscure.
um... that's all I can think of/find lyrics for at the moment, but they're pretty fun ones. (Though True Fine Love would make an excellent Inu Yasha one too... I can just see Miroku singing that one LOL!!!)
Ok, I have no idea what the heck my computer did there, but I am so bad with HTML (and everything else about computers for that matter) that I'm sure it's entirely my fault. I'd delete that nasty looking post, but it won't let me (and even computer-genius-husband can't figure out that part)
So... the two songs that I was adding are both my Steve Miller Band and super cool
