The one about the refrigerator

So Friday morning there's a definite burned electrical smell in the air. Z has me get up and confirm that is what he smelled. we wander around the house sniffing, trying to pinpoint where it is coming from. The smell isn't downstairs. It's primarily in the hallway/living area. We check the electronics and everything is working. So not being able to determine where it's coming from, we open the back door and turn the fan on to air the place out. The day progresses.

Later on, I take Boychild to the library because he'd finished whipping through the copy of the huge volume of Sandman he'd checked out earlier in the week and I said I'd take him to get the next one. Then I picked up a couple Nerf pistols that were on clearance for $5 each at Bakers, along with more Honeycrisps. Since it was too early to pick up dinner, I browsed ShopKO but came out emptyhanded. THEN we drove through Wendy's where they messed up Boychild's burger and we had to drive through again to get one WITHOUT mayo. They let us keep the wrongly made one too, so I had a burger to go with my chili and baked potato. So I put my Frosty in the freezer for later.

Cut to when I want my Frosty. I pull it out of the freezer and it is Frosty soup. *brain fart* Here's where the burned smell came from! (Ya coulda figured that out from my title that foreshadowed this event) I put a fridge thermometer in there and twenty minutes later checked it. 50 degrees! So I get a laundry basket and unload all the stuff that's still good from the freezer, throw away the popsicles that had smooshed off the sticks. Ice cream that turned mushy went. Everything else went out to the freezer in the garage.

The fridge compartment seemed to be still cold so I left the stuff there, but moved the thermometer. Cut to half an hour later and it says 50 degrees. I guess the melting freezer items were keeping it still cold earlier and when I removed them the temp rose. So I unloaded/trashed stuff from THAT compartment too.

Now I'm waiting for the repair guy to give me a call that he'd be coming over.
