So today I went to the downtown opening of the newest local Red Mango.
It is on the corner of 13th and Cuming, directly across from the new stadium. I got there about 40 people too late to get a free t shirt. (sigh) But I got yummy froyo. Used some of the Mother's Day gift card Mory gave me so it didn't cost me anything outta pocket. Went outside and watched the locals skate the half pipe that had been constructed in the lot next door for a contest. Found an unopened Red Mango "chapstick" near a table and picked it up.
After I ate my froyo, I took a short vid of the skaters and tweeted it to Dan Kim, the head corporate honcho of Red Mango, and my twitterbuddy. He was going to a different opening in Colorado today and couldn't be here. I tweeted him to wave at me as he flew over Nebraska and while I was in line got a tweetback from him saying "Did you see me wave?"
When I had enough of the heat and noise and crowd, I walked around the block heading to my car and decide to stop in Urban Outfitters. Now I know where all the hipsters get their clothes. Went upstairs and looked at the women's section. That's really stretching the term "women" because I swear that nothing there would be appropriate on anyone over 22. As I was walking around I felt that I was a foot too short, twenty pounds too heavy, and thirty years too old to be shopping there. Plus a lot of their overpriced garments were made from flimsy fabric that looked like it would not hold up to wear and tear. But I did find something to buy. I got my walking buddy a coffee mug for her birthday next week. It says "Little Miss FUCKING Sunshine" on it. She will love it.
Then I went next door to the American Apparel for shits and giggles. Ugh. Total slutwear. No wonder, considering the corporate climate. I took a picture of one of the mannequins.
It is... creepy. And it's not even in one of the sluttier outfits I saw there. (Sheer lace leotard? Really??!?!!!)
Then I came home because it was miserably hot. Yay for vehicles with air conditioning. Messed around with the 'puter. Went and got the kid from work. And now I'm here with a slush from Sonic. The cat's in my lap and the dog's jealously circling around wanting to jump up. Z put on the movie "A Wrinkle in Time" on streaming Netflix. And I'm gonna play some WoW.
That... has been my day so far.
