[ Series ] : Junjou Romantica
[ Canon Point ] : Act 25 (current end of manga)

[ History ] :
Um, here and here.

[ Personality ] :
Misaki is a college student with a likable personality and the inability to not try to accomodate others' needs. That is, he is extremely polite and tries to accommodate for everyone, with some exception. Misaki is the kind of kid you want at your company's job interviews--he's not smug or full of himself, but he's not completely lacking in self-confidence and simply wants to learn how to do his best, and the nice personality and manners compliment it.

However, at times, his selflessness can cause him to actually be somewhat a problem (but usually not too bad) and, among others, is somewhat of a flaw (see strengths/weaknesses!).

Misaki also has a bit of temper. A bit is putting it lightly. The temper is always a result of some sort of trigger--usually, this is a mention of Usami, his 'partner' whom he lives with. He's often angry with Usami and others talking about him will usually make him angry; Sumi, a classmate, talks with him about Usami and Misaki is almost always talking about how much he hates/dislikes him and how bothersome he is. Misaki constantly disses him in front of other people.

As soon as someone else rags on Usami, though, the tables turn. Misaki will almost always change his mind and find a way to talk positive about Usami when someone else says bad things about him: to Haruhiko, Usami's brother; to Sumi (Sumi once commented on how much Misaki must hate him, and Misaki immediately backtracked to say, well, no, he's not that bad... and the like).

He has this awkwardly determined way of sticking up for people, including himself. When Usami and his father are having a chat, Misaki is eavesdropping (that alone being something slightly out-of-character for his usually well-mannered personality) and he eventually stands up and shows himself to prove a point; one of the few times he actually talks about love--although, he manages to dodge the word "love", as usual.

As of now, he is a college student at M University, studying Economics. He chose this university specifically because it's the one his older brother, Takahiro, wanted to get into, but was unable to. A car crash killed their parents when Misaki was a young age, and Takahiro took care of the both of them. He now pays for Misaki's tuition and Misaki sees it as a way of repaying him. He's not the best student, and this is what landed him in Usami's house in the first place--they began as student and tutor.

He doesn't get amazing grades, but he is ambitious. Through the tutoring he managed to get into M University (by waitlist, which Usami teases him for). Misaki would offer to help pay rent or do little things like that, feeling guilt about essentially being a 'freeloader', but none of those offers were taken up and he continues to "pay" rent by doing household chores. Misaki now has a part-time job at Marukawa where Usami publishes some books and usually spends it on miscellaneous things anf gifts for Usami.

Not much is shown as far as Misaki having any regular hobbies or activities, but he's helped out with school-related activies with Sumi and he went with a different friend to an autographing/signing by Ijuuin-sensei. He seems to spend his time at the house, working part-time, or going out with Usami or friends, and he likes it that way.

[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :
...Well, Misaki is kind of an average guy, but here goes:
Strengths:
1. ...He cleans house and cooks, pretty well, actually. So he's basically an amazing housewife.

2. He's super polite and likable (to most people). Basically everyone likes him, excluding a few for certain reasons: Usagi's father doesn't like him at first, because he feels he is a bad match for his son (but later ends up approving of him!); other students at his university are 'afraid' or intimidated by him because of his association with Usami.

Weaknesses:
1. Unknowingly seducing unsociable people. No, really. Usagi and Haruhiko are both unsociable guys that Misaki is generally put off by.

2. Being easily exploitable--he has a short temper and gets angry about things, but overall, Misaki can be somewhat of a pushover. He has a hard time flat out saying no--it took awhile to get Usagi's father and Haruhiko off his back (and all the gifts he was receiving), and Usagi spoils him.

3. His past is somewhat of a weakness; his parents died in a car crash and his brother was left to raise him. He worries about troubling people as a result, and there are plenty of examples of such: Isaka mentions to him about not wanting to 'cause a problem' for Usami, and Misaki is troubled by it for a long time; in a phone conversation, although Misaki wants to stay living with Usami, he acts like he doesn't want to (though this is a mix of both not wanting to be a bother and being a stubborn boy); and at some point Usami says "if you don't want to trouble me, then stay by my side", which he agrees to.
[ Other Important Facts ] :
He refuses to believe he's gay, most of the time. At least, he makes a lot of homophobic jokes about himself.

[ Questions? Comments? Concerns? ] : Nope.
