Sunday Evening Post: Honors Project

Oct 17, 2010 17:42

It's coming along nicely. ^w^ I also met my mentor for the first time... sort of. We talked over an iTV connection at our separate campuses, but next meeting she may come out to the school in person. She's not nearly as scary as I thought she would be, thank goodness. But then again I had no reason to fear her in the first place... I had a hard time trying to explain why exactly I'm writing about the Baltic Way for my project without stating Hetalia's involvement in my initial interest in Baltic history/to some extent history in general (I liked history before Hetalia, Hetalia just emphasized and increased it). She seems a little perplexed as to why I'm writing about the Baltics and not about a place I've been, like Japan or Thailand, but other than that she's really nice.

And she encouraged/assigned me to write any questions I have for her about my project and to work on my project two to three hours daily. .... I haven't worked on it today, but that's because I'm determined to keep to my no-homework-on-Sunday policy - but I did get plenty of work done on it yesterday! In fact, I think I have the end of one chapter and the beginning of another typed out.... problem is that the two excerpts I wrote last night are at or nearing the middle of the story! owo; I need to actually work on the story from the beginning this coming week... and/or figure out a name for Nikolai's grandma, other than just "Grandma Eesti" (I haven't called her that in the story, though, believe me) or "Nikolai's grandma." I mean heck, as far as back-story goes she's my most developed character who actually does anything in the story, as in her backstory could be a separate book in and of itself if I really wanted to! Yet I don't have a proper name for her. I fail. I have one for her presumed-dead husband (whether I decided to have that plot twist at the end where he's alive is going to be kept a secret... for now) - but not for her! *facepalm* the husband might not even have any actual involvement in the story itself, dang it!

... Sorry, sorry, I'll stop ranting about my Honors project. I'd show you guys a preview of what I have so far, but then again if I'm going to publish it after this whole Honors business is through I need to keep the actual material safely under lock and key and off the Interwebs - I can't even have it under a friend-lock here on LJ, 'cause people might be able to hack into that stuff, you know?

And yet I keep discussing random plot points and the characters. I need to make up my mind on what's okay to write about when it comes to that and what isn't. =w=;

So anyway, I guess you could say that's my week in a nutshell, except for kyarrichan kidnapping me Wednesday evening to Red Mountain Park. That was fun - and from the sound of it we're going to do some pre-Hetalia Day shenanigans next Saturday with a few of our other friends (can't celebrate it the day of because it's on a Sunday this year). .... Although my dad is going to be home next week. Let's hope he doesn't ruin things. And I overslept and missed church today. .... >.>; when am I going to get that "go to bed early Saturday night" thing pounded into my head?

I need to stop nibbling on uncooked rice. That can't be good for me. *nibbles anyway*

rambling, honors: project stuff, boredom, life
