A Necessary Truce Amongst Fans? {IchiRuki & IchiHime War)
Ever since the beginning of the animanga series BLEACH, this ship war between IchiRuki and IchiHime fans have gotten uglier and uglier over the years. It’s a long drawn out grudge match between predominantly female fans who seem to have nothing better to do than bash each other with uneducated rhetoric while praising one ship over another. This has been the longest fandom catfight I have ever seen and perhaps one of the ugliest fights spewed by fans that cannot seem to enjoy Bleach for what it is. Instead of friendly conversations about beloved characters from the series, the entire fandom itself seem to praise itself on it’s bias cruelty regarding the these two ships. While I certainly do not have a much of an opinion of either pairings, I do realize that some of these contenders in this brutal internet death match must be a tad loopy in the head to go out of their way to attack each other daily on forums such as Bleach FC, bleachness and nearly every other forum dedicated to this series.
While I certainly lack a true opinion about which ship is canon to Bleach or not (because I simply don’t care), I must say that watching these two pseudo-net empires bash each other daily has become a bit of a sport for those outside of the Bleach fandom. I know plenty of people outside of Bleach who claim they never read or watch this animanga series because they fear being sucked in this asinine ship war. Hell, I know of former Cloud/Aerith and Cloud/Tifa contenders who’ve taken a step away from Bleach because of the ship war despite being apart of that Final Fantasy 7 ship war during the late 1990s. I don’t think I can recall an incident from the whole Cloud/Aerith v.s. Cloud/Tifa wank that matches or mirrors the IchiRuki and IchiHime wankery at all. It is as if this ship war in Bleach has taken things to a new level of extremes thanks to very obsessive fans.
In short, I feel as if these people truly make Bleach impossible to enjoy because of the drama they pull within the fandom. Instead of allowing people to enjoy their ships without being constantly verbally assaulted online for them, these ladies really go out of their way to tear each other down whenever its deemed fit to try and drive a point about a fictional character’s love life.
What ever happened to just enjoying the story? What ever happened to being ‘mature’ enough to realize that everyone is different and will hold their own views about characters regardless of the heavily flawed essays people dish out?
I think it’s time for a truce ladies, you’re little ship war has been featured on a plethora of sites and the overall census of us fandom bystanders are sick of your stupidity.
