Well, if MiB isn't lying, then at least you were right about him being a mortal man. I think that even if he *was* a "man" at some point, he definitely isn't anymore... (which I guess is pretty obvious...), but like to think that his 'powers'/situation was more thrust/forced upon him than to think that he 'figured out how to use the island's powers'. Not sure of how his back story will play out yet though, honestly.
Also, I think this episode confirmed the possibility for another part of your theory - that Jack will become the new Jacob. Since Jack is a candidate, and honestly seems like the most likely choice. "He is among us, but he is not one of us." He had to go through all that he went through to earn the "faith" and believe in "miracles" and "destiny", so now he's actually *ready* for the 'job' so to say.
