Well, I have had an excellent weekend, I must say! Friday I went hiking with Amber and Justine, and Ambers little rat terrier Dixie, which was a lot of fun. We hike up to the 3 pools above 7 falls. I always think the 7 falls hike is pretty lame, as it is super short and easy, but this 3 pools hike was very rewarding! We only took one wrong turn, and ended up hiking up the Jesusita trail for a ways. Justine realized she had been there before, and we managed to make it back to our trail without hiking many miles the wrong way. There was a lot of scrambling and rock climbing, which was cool. And the last rock we had to go over actually needed to be climbed with a rope! We had to hand dixie up in three steps! Justine at the bottom, handing her to Amber in the middle, handing her to me at the top. But the pool was very nice! I jumped in, and in was freezing, but very refreshing. We all managed not to get poison oak, which was a miracle, as it was everywhere! On the drive back we stopped at McConnels and got ice cream, which was super yummy. Then later we had yummy Vietnamese chicken at Justine's.
Saturday I went camping with Justine, Kim, and Camela (I think that's how you spell her name), up at the Big Caliente hot springs. It was a lot of fun. We expected to be car camping, but the road was closed because of the rain, so we had to hike the 2 and 1/2 miles in to the camp. It was nice though, because there was almost no one there. We only ran into a few people during the day, and we were the only ones camping there that night. The hot springs themselves were nice, and we had a good long soak. It was too windy to pitch a tent though, so we camped under the stars. The night sky was absolutely brilliant!! There were so many stars out, it was amazing. The wind kept blowing all this grit and stuff in out faces though, and when the wind finally died down, the bugs came out. I got three mosquito bites on my FACE, which kind of sucks. But hey, at least I didn't get poison oak. We hike back to the car, and on the drive back had to stop to admire the view of the Channel Islands. It was so clear that you could actually see all of them. It was amazing. There were also a lot of wildflowers blooming, and there whole area is very green. It was nice.
After we showered etc. Kim, Justine, her b/f Hunter, his friend... I totally can't remember his name, and I all went to see Sin City at Camino Real. It was very cool. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Then Justine, Kim, and I all went over to Justine's to make the same Vietnamese dish but with tofu. It was delicious! I am about to pass out now I am so exhausted! But no school tomorrow, so yay! I am gonna go to bed now, before I fall asleep on the keyboard!
