Insert rooftop pun of some sort
I keep a rainy day fund but I've never called it that. I've always called it the 'roof caves in' or the 'house falls down' fund, depending on which day of the week it is and how pessimisstic I've been feeling.
Indeed, it is apt, because though the roof has not caved in yet the key word there is 'yet' and the contractor I had look at it gives a bad prognosis for another winter. Our friend-tenants are moving out and this will be the first time that we will have non-friends upstairs paying rent. This means we must be doubley, tripley sure that they will not get rained on when residing up there.
