HP 4
I really enjoyed the movie. Overall it's the best movie so far, but some of that has to do with the fact that the events in book 4 are easiest to translate into a movie (it's got lots of action and a big climax and all) but even aside from that it was done very well. There were a lot of really funny lines from almost everyone (especially from the twins, who actually are noticeably around and acting like themselves) and they make no qualms about making the darker stuff a little scarier. Harry gets beat on which is a plus. In the previous ones he'd always end up dirty with some scratches, but it wasn't really getting beat on. I was highly amused by the intentional innuendo and the showing off of 'quidditch toned physiques' which isn't a quote but it should have been. Another plus? No S.P.E.W. and no house elves, thank you. Cons: Harry/Hermione fans will orgasm at the movie. Batten down the hatches! Man the torpedoes! Prepare for the great shipwars (eyeroll). One of the other things that I didn't like, though, was that there wasn't quite enough attention given to Cedric. Harry was upset (acting improved, but still needs work) but he wasn't upset long enough. Once that scene was over he was seemed ok so I thought that the movie didn't focus enough on how much it affected him and ended on a lighter note than it should have. But I'm sure he will still angst about it in movie 5 because that's all there is to book 5. (I insist that the logo to the 5th movie be changed to an ALL-CAPS version! HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX!)
So go see it!
Now initial thoughts for Furuba 119 based on third hand summaries until I read it myself. I would normally cut for spoilers but I think if you're at least reasonably far into the series you should know who's romantically interested in whom by now.
キョーのばか!
So he did notice. I'd been wondering. He kept telling himself that it wasn't true, but apparently he knew. Sigh. I think his chose this point to talk about Kyouko not just because Tooru was going to confess but because of his conversation with Momiji a few chapters ago. He just needs to accept that what's done is done; he can't change it and he should just move on. But then, isn't a lot of Furuba about that? At any rate I don't like the idea of him sticking around because of his 'man's promise.' Do it because you want to, not because of that.
