I don't, personally, believe that Palin cost McCain the Presidency. I believe that Obama's platform of hope did a fine job on its own. That said, I don't believe that Palin helped McCain's chances, either. Her incoherent non-answers to questions, her strong beliefs that she seemed incapable of giving information to support, and her overall inability to answer more probing questions than she obviously expected to be asked, made her look foolish on many occasions. She reminded me of a friend who says, "That's not what I learned in school (20 years ago), so I can't believe it's true."
Is it possible that she can get past these issues, not to mention the obvious problems within the GOP, to come back for the Presidency? I don't think so. While the interest in her may fade, the American people don't forget, we just put aside what is not important at that time. I'd be curious how many of the people who voted for McCain did so, DESPITE Palin as Vice Presidential candidate, not because she was running with him.
Personally, I don't think excited is a word most of us would use about Palin. I must admit, however, she did give me some opportunities to break out popcorn for a funny evening.
