Terrorism And More To Come

May 16, 2007 03:44

I'm not as upset as previous journal entries might've made it seem. The last two were posted that night, and I felt almost completely better the next morning.

Anyway, for the past few days, I've been feeling like I needed to update this thing. I mean, not like this is a news service or anything, I just had the need to write. Originally, I was going to write a really long analysis of terrorism, its effectiveness, and how it's the next shift in warfare, but I just couldn't bring myself to write it. If I had, it would've included a summary of the general evolution warfare has undergone and how the shift to purely terroristic warfare is inevitable as, with the "shrinking" of the world (though I hate that term), all points of view and regions are becoming more accessible. See, I was listening to a Rage Against The Machine song (I was angry and on the bus at the time) and the phrase "the front line is everywhere" stuck in my mind and reminded me of another thing I've been thinking about recently: global apathy (or it could be learned helplessness). You see, if nobody is acting to change or fix their current situations, then everyone is a target for those who would seek change and if current military tactics can't defeat terrorism, then what must happen is what always happens when the "present" military tactics don't work: they adopt the tactics that work against them.

That's a general outline of what the post would've been about... I might've included something about "any government that is supposedly 'of, by, and for the people' that works against the interests of the people is an illegitimate government" in there somewhere... but what I've really wanted to do is to just write more fiction. The last thing that I really wrote was an outline for a screenplay and it utterly fucking sucked. Also, I feel like my recent experiences might give me new insights into what kinds of things I can write about.

We'll see, I guess...
