[ The feed flickers on to a teenager staring intently at the screen, apparently in a stage of serious concentration. ]

--lieve that was the right button -- now how do I --

Oh! I believe it is working!

[Mitsuhide is understandably cautious before introducing himself to other samurai not of his own exact world, so he does not introduce himself yet. Instead he regards Yukimura was clear curiosity. This one is very young.]

Another Sanada Yukimura?

[A thoughtful pause.]

I will assume you have met the Yukimura from my world, then. The one who works in the stables with me.

...oh, yes, I have. Just recently, I admit.

[ And got scolded, but, well, he may have deserved it. ]

I fear I do not know you, however, sir, though forgive me if I make a guess from what I have been told: you are either Chosokabe-dono's other self, or Akechi Mitsuhide.

[ Though he seems unsure, as the man certainly does not look like either of them... then again, his other self is not exactly much like himself, either. ]

[Ah. That makes things a little easier. Mitsuhide bows his head politely.]

The latter is correct; I am indeed Akechi Mitsuhide. It is an honour, Crimson Samurai.

[He regards the young man thoughtfully, eyes kind and still, perhaps, a little nervous.]

If I may ask, what else have you been told?

[ For a moment Yukimura is startled. He thinks of the Akechi Mitsuhide he knew of, and is startled by how strange the situation he now faces is; then he remembers himself and gives the screen a polite bow in return. ]

I am honored to meet you as well, Akechi-dono. I admit I do not know much about you nor your world, but the Chosokabe Motochika known to me spoke well of you and your other self, and I have never had reason to not trust his judgement.

He did? That is good to hear.

[Mitsuhide smiles then; reassured by the young man's words, his expression becomes calm and gentle. This is the most pleasant greeting he's had from any of the souls who have come from that odd other world. He cannot blame them for being suspicious of him, really, considering the Mitsuhide they know...]

Well, you are free to ask any questions you wish, Lord Yukimura. I confess to being curious myself about the many differences between our worlds; that there should exist a version of my Lord Motochika that is a pirate still astounds me greatly.

[He laughs quietly.]

Are you a great cavalry man, like the Yukimura of my world?

I am quite curious as well! Though if Lord Chosokabe called himself only a pirate, he is being too humble.

[ Though someone else is certainly too humble, as well, the way he ducks his head in embarrassment. ]

I would not call myself "great," though I have been honored to ride with the Takeda Calvary on many occasions.

I admit I have not talked to him very much, so I know only a little beyond that. What else can you tell me, then? I should like to see if he and my Lord Motochika share any traits at all.

[He seems a little amused.]

You are being rather modest, I suspect.

[Which is something Mitsuhide himself is, actually, so he can understand Yukimura's embarassment.]

I shall have to watch you ride one of my horses sometime, and judge for myself.

Though he often spends time on his ship, it is true, he is Lord of the entirety of Shikoku, and is known to be a great and loving lord to his people. His crew all refer to him as 'Aniki' because of it. Though he is nicknamed the Devil of the Western Sea, he is in truth a very kind and honest man, one I am honored to call a friend and ally!

[ Yukimura's embarrassment now mingles with sheepishness, and he shifts his weight from one foot to the other like a child uncertain if they are going to get in trouble. ]

I would be willing, though I believe my other self was irritated at me for my method of riding, thinking me quite reckless.

[ Even if he still did not understand it completely. What was wrong with riding while standing up? ]

Honest?

[Mitsuhide has to laugh at that word. Honest, yes. Stretching into blunt when it comes to his Motochika.]

There is a common trait then, as is 'great.' That nickname is unique to your Lord Motochika, however. Mine is known as 'the Bat,' a nickname meant as an insult that he grew fond of regardless. That tells you a lot about him.

[That sheepishness gives Mitsuhide pause. He tilts his head; reckless riding of his horses is definitely not something he approves of, but he can already guess that this young man would not endanger a horse's life willingly.]

Why did he consider it reckless? How do you ride horses, Lord Yukimura?

The Bat? That is an interesting thing to be called. Why did that name come into being?

[ Though he is flustered, Yukimura is not one to lie, even about something others do not approve of, so he answers honestly. ]

The majority of the time I ride like any man might. I admit when I feel more energetic, or in the heat of battle, I tend to ride crouched on my war steed's back. I did not stop to think that your horses would be unused to having a rider stand instead of sit, which was where I was at fault.

[ The horses of this Yukimura's Takeda are gods amongst animals for their patience, at the very least. ]

Lord Nobunaga dubbed him as such; 'a bat on a birdless island.'

[Mitsuhide frowns, a shadow passing across his face; thinking of the man he betrayed remains difficult, still feels him with guilt.]

It was an insult, as I said. He was implying that Lord Motochika was not anyone special, not anyone of particular note, just the one average man amongst the mediocre. As he always does, Lord Motochika took that as a challenge.

[A sad smile.]

He is far from average. Lord Motochika is a remarkable man.... and strong. Strong enough for two people.

[He shakes his head, attempting to settle back into a calmer expression, and raises an eyebrow.]

Crouched? That is... certainly unique, although Lord Keiji often rode his mighty horse by laying along it. It is true that they are not used to such, however.

[Mitsuhide hums thoughtfully.]

You know better now. I would not be opposed to you training a horse to get used to such a thing, Lord Yukimura, provided you show caution and restraint in doing so.

Though I do not know your Lord Chosokabe, I must agree that your own and mine share similar traits, then, and admirable traits at that.

[ Yukimura smiles brightly at the idea. ]

Of course! I would be most obliged if you would allow me. I would never wish to frighten or pain such wonderful animals, but it would be of comfort to know that I could ride one in this place as I am used to.

Though this place seems quite peaceful, are your horses trained for war, or would the use of spears by the rider be new to them as well?
