PROGRESS, LAWL

SO. I spent all day working on a layout for my Xelloss shrine. Today, I decided to scrap it! SUCH IS THE LIFE OF A DESIGNER, Y/Y?

Sigh. Seriously though, the layout actually turned out fine. It was decent, in fact! But it wasn't spectacular. It's not something representative of my current talents. So I said "SCREW YOU LAYOUT" and decided to start afresh.

What I'm used to is pre-planning on paper because that's just how it works in the industry. I'm also used to creating my own artwork. One thing I love about making fansites is that I can use pre-existing artwork and then just jump right into the design phase. However, with Xelloss... most of the pre-existing artwork is not very useable for the types of designs I'd like to do and those that are, well, they're not exactly the greatest quality. Even if I have HQ scans, the artwork is kinda poop. >_> So yeah. Solution? DRAW MY OWN.

So yeah, now that I'm just going to do my own vector illustration, THE SKY IS THE LIMIT, BRO. I'm already flooded with awesome ideas. And even if the design turns out to be somewhat plain jane, at least the artwork will be awesome enough to distract the users. Fufufuf, I am a genius. XD

It'll take me more time to go and create custom artwork but I think it'll be worth it. I beat myself up these days because I'm not pumping out a design in just a few hours. But really, even when I used to do them faster, it still took me a lot longer than 2 hours to come up with something and fast doesn't always equal good. I think the best layouts are ones that take a little more consideration, thought and detail, don't you think?
