From an article on CityNews:

"Meanwhile, commuters who take the GO train home have a new headache to worry about: new platform numbers at Union Station.

If you've taken the same train day after day for years, it may not be in the same spot Monday afternoon.

Signs have been posted along the boards to alert passengers to the change, but most of us only look at those boards to see if the train is on time.

It's expected to make the ride easier in the long run, but the learning curve for work-weary riders will be steep."

First of all, the trains are in the exact same locations as they have always been. The only thing that has changed is the number of the platforms. The old numbering system used to include letters, so you'd have Platform 3, Platform 3A, Platform 3B. The new system has dropped the letters, to make it easier for travelers to figure out where to go. So Platform 3, Platform 4, Platform 5.

So of course, CityNews has to blow this completely out of proportion. >_< People who don't look at the train numbers at all aren't going to get confused; they're going to walk in the same direction, up the same stairs, to the exact same platform that they go to every single day. The only difference here is that the platform has a different number. How exactly is this a steep learning curve? =_=

I've gone and taken a GO train once or twice and it WAS confusing. I didn't know what the difference between 3A and 3B meant. The fact that Union is conforming to the same system that's used across North America, making it easier for everyone to understand where they're supposed to go, is great. And I can't see how this would effect daily commuters. Even if a train was moved, it's their own fault for not looking at the notices that Union likely has posted everywhere. :P

Ugh. *stabs CityNews*
