[Opinion] Arashi's Album "Popcorn"

Oct 28, 2012 13:29

Yesterday night I just downloaded Arashi's newest album well I'm a bad fangirl I can't afford to buy their album and yet I downloaded it before the release date gyaaa kill meeee and right now I'm still in euphoria of listening to them ♥
I can't say that I'm a good reviewer; that's why this is not a review. This is just my opinion for this album and I feels like typing it into my journal.

The LE cover album is really hilarious. I wanna eat their heads XD

So after hearing all of the songs (minus the 4 main singles, because I'm too lazy to make reviews about them), here's my thought for each of them:

1. Welcome to our party
The first time I heard this song was the radio cut version, and I couldn't wait for the full version! I fell in love with the cheeriness of this song, from the rhyme, Sho's "Put your hands up, hey! Yea! Yea! Yea!" to the reff part. All of it. This is a perfect song to be put on the first track, starting the album and heighting my expectation for this album.

2. Kakenukero
I can't say that I like it. I don't hate it, no, but this song definitely won't be in my most played songs list... This is not a bad song; this is just not my taste.

5. We wanna funk, we need a funk (MatsuJun's solo)
...well. I... Okay, I almost can't tolerate all of Jun's solo songs. "I Want Somebody" and "Come Back to Me" are still likeable, though. But this song... What, Jun? Do you want to funk that bad? *sighs* I love him. I really do. But not his solo songs. Sometimes I wonder, he's a perfectionist, right? Then, what the heck happen with his solos? Does he really like those kind of songs? I find him really attractive in every Arashi songs ("One Love" and "Sirius", for example), but not in his owns. Sorry, Jun.

6. two (Ohno's solo)
Oh, no. Haha. Again, I love his solo. This is a different case from Jun; I love almost all of Ohno's solo. Well, "Ready to Fly" and "Hung up on" don't really steal my heart, but still likeable. Even though "two" doesn't really make me sunk in euphoria like "Take Me Faraway" and "Shizuka na Yoru ni" but this is still a pure creation. My favorite solo in this album. Ohno's voice is really angelic. The "I need you, I need you, I need you" and "I love you, I love you, I love you" part, and also part from 3:00 to 3:18.... *sighs dreamily*

7. Waiting for you
I started liking this song from the reff part. And the "My heart is waiting for you..." part is really lovely... By the way, the reff part reminds me with Hey!Say!JUMP's song "Dash" reff part, hahaha! XD

8. Rakuen (Aiba's solo)
This song is kinda like an opening song for anime. I like it! It suits Aiba really well. My favorite solo from him is "Hello Goodbye", and it seems that "Rakuen" will be on the 2nd rank :D

9. Tabi wa tsuzuku yo
I feel like this song is suitable for carnival or circus or something, along with "Circus" from "Boku no Miteiru Fuukei" album. The difference between those songs are that "Tabi wa tsuzuku yo" is a lot more cheerful than "Circus" which is darker and more mysterious.

10. Sore wa yappari kimi deshita (Nino's solo)
Another piano-themed solo from Nino. This song is beautiful. Nino's way of singing it is really soothing. I'm still learning Japanese and only understand a little part of the lyrics, but I'm sure the whole thing is really sweet. As expected from Nino's self-made lyric :3

13. Fly on Friday (Sho's solo)
For me, it's really rare to like Sho's solo. But this time, I must admit that I love this song. The reff part. His "Oh yeah~! Let's starting yeah~! Yeah~!" and "Yeah yeah yeah! Wow wow wow!" part really got me! XD Well I'm not sure it's the right lyric, but whatever. I have fun listening to this song.

14. Cosmos
Probably my favorite song from this album. OMG. Just listen to this song!! I feel like listening to the "World Cup" or other sport competition theme song. I loooove it ♥ No other comments added ♥

15. Akashi
I've already seen the performance even before I knew that this song would be in "Popcorn" album. One of the most beautiful Arashi's ballad songs ♥

16. Up to you
Personally I wish "Cosmos" were the closing song for this album. "Up to you" is a good song, but since my heart was already stolen by "Cosmos", so yeah... Maybe they put this on the last track because of the lyrics? "Don't stop. Music. Itsumademo". Hehe, yeah maybe.

Okay, that's all. In conclusion, I love this album with "two" from Ohno as my favorite solo and "Cosmos" as my favorite song. It's just too bad that there's no "Furusato" in this album... :[
