Title: This Is Not A Goodbye

Author: urufu

Pairing: Chinen Yuri x Kawashima Umika

Genre: Fluff (Of course. It’s my genre XD)

Rating: G

Summary: Chinen and Umika had a conversation on the school’s balcony right before the last rehearsal of their graduation ceremony.

Notes: I had a sudden urge of writing this after hearing Horikoshi 3D’s graduation. Oh my. I’m gonna miss them so baaad ;A;

Their graduation ceremony will be held in a few hours.

The rehearsal itself will begin shortly, but Chinen excuses himself to Yamada for going to the toilet.

“Don’t take it too long. Sensei will be mad if one of his favorite genius student gets late for this last rehearsal.”

“I know I know. I’ll be back in no time,” Chinen gave a quick smile to his best friend before rushing out from the hall.

He is feeling mixed right now. Part of him is happy that finally he can be free from the high school activities. But the other part of him is feeling lonely. He knows he will miss his classmates so bad. They have had great moments for the past three years and they all have become very close friends. He wonders if he will meet them again in another occasion in the future.

After quitting from the toilet, Chinen makes himself back to the hall. But, in the middle of running, he spots someone from his class leaning herself to the rail on the balcony of school.

“Umika-san?”

She is startled --almost jumps, not realizing that someone is already behind her.

“You’re not going to the hall? Rehearsal will begin in a few minutes...” Chinen looks at his wristwatch.

She smiles. A soft smile that he always admires.

“I was just searching for a fresh air...” she turns her vision back to the previous scene she was watching from her spot.

“Are you okay? You’re not feeling well?” he walks to her side, a worried look on his face.

She shakes her head, smiling again. “I’m fine. Just...” she trails off.

Chinen leans his arms to the rail, waiting for her to continue.

“I can’t believe we’re graduating.”

“Yeah, me too...”

And then there is silence. None of them makes any sound for a full minute.

“Does Chinen-kun love being in this school?” suddenly, she asks him a question.

“Honestly, yes. I’m thankful I get to have my high school life in Horikoshi,” he sighs in contentment. “At first, I found the rules as annoying. But to think about it again, the rules were made for our own good... As entertainers.”

She nods in agreement.

“I’m glad I got many friends from here... Because we’re all entertainers, we can understand each other very well. I will never forget my moments with you guys in Horikoshi.”

Chinen looks at Umika, suddenly feels embarassed with his previous blabbers.

“I-I’m sorry, I think I’ve talked too much...” he grimaces, scratching his cheek.

She chuckles, shaking her own head.

“I understand it so well, because I have an exact opinion as Chinen-kun...”

Umika is never be the one who talks much whenever they have a conversation. Chinen always leads the talk, when Umika is being a good listener. Not that she minds with it.

“I’m gonna miss this school...” she turns to slightly look at him. “I’m... gonna miss you.”

Chinen blinks for several times.

“Chinen-kun is always kind to me. We’re never really that close, but everytime we get to talk, you’re always nice and caring. I never thought that you, an honor student from our class, would actually talk to me. Well, the time you began to talk to me, I thought it was because I was co-staring with Ohno-san in Kaibutsu-kun. Then you would just forget me when the drama was over,” Chinen blushes, shaking his head and trying to explain to her, but then she continues. “But I was wrong. Chinen-kun keeps friending me even until now. I’m sorry for my misjudgement.”

He grins.

“I always thought about friending you since the beginning of the school, but I was too shy... When I knew you had a drama together with Ohno-kun, I thought that finally I got something to talk about with you...”

She lightens up. “Really?”

“I’m never good when it comes to talking with girls. I guess Umika-san is one of my very few girl-friends,” he admits sheepishly.

“I’m honored to hear that.”

They look at each other, smiles carved contently.

After another short silence, Umika speaks again. “I wish I realized this feeling earlier.”

Chinen tilts his head in confusion.

“At the beginning, I only thought Chinen-kun as a classmate. But then, I wondered why I was always feeling like this whenever I saw you in class, TV, or magazines, whenever you were joking around with the boys, whenever you... talked to me. I wish I realized earlier that... you are important in my heart.”

She can’t hide the blush forming on her pretty face anymore.

“Now that we’re graduating, I won’t get to see you again for this close... I wish I cherished our moments that we’ve been through more.”

She looks up from staring at the ground to meet his gaze. He just stands still, taken back.

“I-I’m sorry!” she realizes her sudden confession. The blush on her face only gets redder. “I never thought I could say something about it to you--“

Her sentences are cut by his embrace. Umika is stiffened when she feels his hug tighten around her shoulders.

“I wish...” Chinen speaks up, half of his face is resting on her hair. “I was brave enough.”

He stops for a while, only to inhale a sweet vanilla scent of her.

“I wish I was brave enough to say the same thing to you... But, yeah, I’m a coward. I hate confessing my feelings first to the girl I love because of my stupid self pride. But... I was wrong. I could have confessed at the beginning, so then you could have been mine earlier. I’m sorry...”

Chinen feels her arms wrap around his waist as her chin resting on his shoulder.

They stay still for a little while, enjoying the closeness they’ve never been before.

He pulls back to place his forehead on hers.

“So... I guess this is not a goodbye for us.”

She shivers, feeling his warm breath.

“I hope so.”

Their noses are touching, and they are dangerously close.

“Chinen-kun...” she notices, stopping Chinen from whatever thing he will do next. “We’re still on school’s balcony.”

He stops leaning to her face, but then smirks playfully.

“Who cares. We’re graduating, remember? This is not their business anymore.”

With that, he succesfully lands a firm but gentle kiss on her lips.

The kiss could be much longer if Jingi and Saaya didn’t suddenly appear, ruining the moment.

“Guys, we’ve been searching you for-- WHOOA!!” Jingi shrieks, resulting an annoyed look from the shorter guy.

“I never thought you were together~!” Saaya squeals like a fangirl.

“Well, we just are,” Chinen smirks, wrapping an arm around Umika’s shoulder. Once again, Umika blushes when she lightly pokes his ribs with her right elbow.

“Anyway, sensei got mad because you two were disappeared! Hurry back to the hall and save your lovey-dovey moment later before he cancels our graduation to next year!” Jingi jokingly shouts as he’s running back to the said room, followed by Saaya.

Umika runs beside Chinen, staring at the entwined hands they are holding.

Yep, this is not a goodbye.

This is only the beginning.
