Notes: This random thought appeared after I saw 9nine’s new single cover for the second time.


As promised, Chinen came to 9nine’s new single releasing event at a certain mall. Of course, he disguised himself with a fedora hat and a coat so nobody would notice him.

He spotted Umika and her bandmates on the backstage. Carefully, he approached her so her bandmates wouldn’t know.

“Umi-chan!” he whispered calling her. She turned her head, smiling when she knew who it was. Chinen signed her to come to his side.

“You come!” she squealed while running to him.

“I’ve promised to you,” he grinned.

“You’ll watch our performance, right? It will start in a few minutes.”

“Hai hai, I’ll definitely watch you. Don’t worry~”

“Then you must tell me your opinion after watching it. I need it so we can improve our skill.”

“You can count on me, Umi-chan,” he winked his eye.

But then he realized something.

While he was talking with her, he was looking up on her. Looking up.

“What’s wrong?” she asked when she saw Chinen’s expression.

“You...” Chinen peeked down at Umika’s shoes. “Damn, so that’s why.”

“What’s with these shoes?”

“Umi-chan, take it off.”

“What?”

“Take it off. I demand you.”

“Are you kidding? This is for our performance!”

“I don’t like that shoes!” he pouted.

“It’s cute! Mou, why can’t you see it...?” she pouted back.

And then her manager called her.

“Sorry, Yuri. I must go now,” she waved and then left him.

He stared blankly at her back as she was preparing with her bandmates. Then, he got an idea.

“I watched you among the crowd. Did you see me?”

“Yeap. Hehe~ Thanks for watching~ It means a lot!”

She felt something different from him.

“Umi-chan, what’s wrong?”

“Um...” she trailed off as she was looking up at his face.

She was still wearing her pink shoes. And an hour ago she had felt that Chinen had been shorter than her. But right then... He got taller?

Umika looked down to see Chinen’s shoes. Widening her eyes, she laughed out loud.

“What?!” he pouted. “Don’t I look good with boots?!”

“B-But...” she tried to stiffle her laugh, but failed. “I don’t think 10cm boots fits you! And if I’m not mistaken, those are women’s boots~!”
