Why Cassis Is A Very UruKai Video
I happened to make a remark on gazepic_a_day that I could write an essay about how Cassis is a very UruKai video. I had a couple of requests to write it up, so . . .
I figured the best way to do this would be with caps. Lots of them. Apologies for the words at the top and bottom of the screens; my copy of Cassis is subtitled. (I don't own the Type A/Optical Impression of this single, unfortunately).
Now, I tend to see this video through the eyes of a fanficcer. In all my fanfic continuities where Uruha and Kai end up together - either one-on-one or in a threesome with Ruki - they're in denial of their feelings for each other at the time this video was made. So, for me, the story of this vid is "They want to tell each other about their feelings, but they can't!"
Throughout the video, we see Kai and Uruha on opposite sides of a wall/door, and they seem to be reaching out to each other:
First, Uruha approaching a wall, on the other side of which is Kai:
And then Uruha clutching the door, as if wondering whether to go through . . . and a crossfade of a wistful Uruha to Kai:
A bit later on, there's Kai standing by a door, looking wistful, anxious . . . he clutches the doorknob, as if he really wants to go through, but just can't - something is holding him back . . .
And who's on the other side of that mixed-emotion-provoking door? You got it.
Then, as if to drive the point home . . . more crossfades! Uruha's hand clutching a windowsill, as if in high emotion, superimposed over Kai! Kai almost-but-not-quite going through the door to Uruha again! Look at Uruha's clutching hand superimposed over Kai grabbing the doorknob - thinking about clasping each other's hands, perhaps?
Finally, at the end of the video, we see each of the boys gazing off into the distance, wistfully, as if they are looking for someone they want to see, with feathers raining down on them like sakura petals in a Clamp manga. Guess which two get shown one right after the other, as if they were looking for one another?
Yep, I'm looking at it with fangirl-colored glasses, but damn, this video gives you a LOT for those glasses to look at. They really do, throughout the video, seem to be reaching out for each other, but stopping, holding back, not taking that final step to GRABBING EACH OTHER AND PUSHING EACH OTHER AGAINST THAT DAMN WALL AND PUTTING THEIR HANDS AND LIPS ALL OVER EACH OTHER AND . . .

Anyway, definitely an insert-your-own-fanservice-here! (By the way, there's an equal amount of wistful gazing and cross-fading between Aoi and Ruki. Yes, this video ships my pairings. XD)
