Grindr Fan

Not the iPhone Cruising App, but an actual meat grinder. I bought one yesterday from Bed Bath and Beyond, 20% off thanks to the coupons I have been collecting since forever. :) And it would have been worth it at the full price of $39.99

Back things up a little bit, I have noticed especially over the past year, the quality of ground beef has been on a steady decline. This is both at fast food burger joints and what you get in the grocery store. Today most of the burger you buy comes from multiple cows and it's all low quality and full of parts that you wouldn't normally eat like lips and anuses. The stuff you get at McDonald's these days is irradiated and treated with ammonia because it's so likely contaminated with e-coli from the cow's feces due to sloppy meat processing practices. What this means is a low quality low on flavor and pretty much unhealthy product.

Today after bowling I decided to give the new meat grinder a whirl and see how much of a difference it made. I bought a chuck roast from the grocery store today and cubed it up and put it in the freezer for about an hour. Apparently meat grinds better if it's a little bit frozen. I ground the meat and just added some salt and pepper then formed it into burger patties and threw them on the grill.

OMG!

I can't remember the last time I had a burger so tender and juicy with so much flavor in the meat. I didn't even have to put condiments on it.

It's a little extra work but it's worth it for the quality and flavor. Usually when I buy ground beef I have to really season it up with all manner of herbs and spices to get it to taste like anything. I don't think I will ever go back. Besides, I don't eat a lot of beef so for the occasion that I do I can take the extra time.

Now I need to buy some sausage casings to experiment with making sausage. Mmm mmm mmm!

Sorry, no pictures this time. Just take my word, it was delicious.
