Who knew chess could be so entertaining?

Was playing chess with The Boy last night. Things were going solidly in my favor until I made two consecutive stupid moves, which he took full advantage of. Boy 1, Me 0. We started a second game. Halfway through the game, The Boy made a really stupid mistake, and realized it. In anger/frustration, he smashed his fist into his leg while uttering a mild oath. He whacked himself so hard that he fell over, laughing. Suddenly, we both erupted into fits of laughter - the kind where you laugh so hard you can't breath, and your stomach muscles hurt. One of those infectious laughing fits where you end up laughing because you're laughing, and everything is hilarious. After several minutes of this (which brought the game to a standstill), we finally managed to regain our composure and continue the game. Out of the blue, he uttered the moniker "Dumbledude", and suddenly we were off with another round of laughter. I finished him off in the game, forcing him into checkmate, which was just all the more hilarious. We packed up the game, and headed into the kitchen where we told K about "Dumbledude" and continued giggling. She just shook her head at our silliness, but The Boy was in an exceptionally good mood, proclaiming yesterday a "really fun day." It's stuff like that that makes parenting fun. Well, to me, anyway.
