I have been in New Orleans for three full days. I have gone on a voodoo tour, led by the owner of the New Orleans voodoo museum (a fascinating man with an encyclopedic knowledge of local history and a rather regrettable boil the size of a grapefruit) who knew a great deal about the topic and once wrote a paper which wound up being the basis for a ( Read more... )

The last time I was in the Quarter we found a gallery that had kinetic wood sculptures by David C. Roy.

But have you had a breakfast made up of Hurricanes? (They've got a lot of juice in them, that's kind of breakfast-y)

I'm sure you could probably find a used Slayer tape for a pittance somewhere! There's lots of record shops around Nawlins.

And yeah, I know all about seeing the originals of the work you really admire. I've gotten six inches away from a Walt Kelly drawing and reverently held my breath as I looked at the subtleties I'd never seen before.

If you're in town for much longer my mom could probably recommend some places to go eat that are tasty, affordable, and outside the tourist areas. And would be very very polite about asking you to sign her giant water-demon library poster.

I have one of those too, my wife sent it to Ursula for signing, which she did, and sent back, now it's framed to match the rest of my Ursula originals (I got all but one of the animals-with-hearts).
