Aw - I don't have audio downloading software on my laptop, but the last one could still be listened to on Kevin's blog without downloading anything. This one can't.

What is the make and model of your rice cooker? I'm listening at work (read: distracted) and I don't recall if you mentioned that. Is it something that can be purchased domestically, did your sponsors smuggle it in from Japan?

I have a great little one I bought at a local Walgreens for ten bucks. They shouldn't be that hard to find. Um, Amazon probably has zillions.

Of course, but they come in such a wide range of prices that when someone seems especially pleased with theirs, I am curious what they have. Is it the type of thing worth paying for quality, or do they all do about the same thing?

I've been meaning to pick one up, but haven't gotten around to it yet. And now, rice cookers that make oatmeal? Genius! I want to know more!

It is a Zojirushi NP-HBC18. You can get them on Amazon or most major Asian cookware stores (like M.V. Trading). There are smaller (5 cup instead of 10 cup) models, as well as a slightly different 3-cup model; what's common between them is they're all induction heated.

There's one more advanced model that uses pressure-cooking as well, but that's starting to get a little over the top. :)

Gotta say, I love all the violence that gets done on packaging in this show. Trader Joe's packaging is truly infuriating. It's a cathartic experience to hear Ursula shouting "Die! Die!" at it.
