Really? (I mean…REALLY?)

So today I got a very nice e-mail from a librarian who has participated in the summer reading program, for which I did the big poster and art and whatnot. (Which, hey, I can post now!)

In addition to the main poster, I did a bunch of little spot art that went into various T-shirts and bookmarks and tote bags and stuff. They kept the aquatic theme, ( Read more... )

Those orcas are unfairly cute. I want an orca I can pick up in my cupped hand and nuzzle.

He has little pet orcas SQUEEEE~!

Um... where was I... oh yeah. That is a gorgeous poster. XD And, well, I have not seen the bookmark in question (though I'd like to, tribal tattoo shark sounds great), but frankly anyone who can mistake tribal tattoos on a shark for Arabic lettering and then worry about 'em touching the Bible needs to get out more. A LOT more. :P :)

I'm pretty sure the Bible has been printed in Arabic. Like, a lot.

Said patron does need a life.

I love the t-shirt designs. I also love the fact that I can say I know the artist and have one of her originals. My co-workers are quite impressed.

I wonder if anyone has thought to solve the problem by driving said patron into catatonia by telling her about those horrible arabic numbers she's been using all this time? (Yes, the same ones that are actually used to mark the paragraphs of that Bible she's worrying so much about...)

This is a brilliant idea. I'll donate to a fund to send someone to do it. :D

Just to be nit-picky, the numerals we use are based on the arabic ones, but are substantialy different... 7 and 8, for example, are v and ^

But yes, I agree all the same :D

Or the fact that Arabic and Hebrew (and Aramaic) are all members of the Semitic language family, and so more closely related than the abominable hybrid English into which her Bible was translated. (Whose ancestral roots are Germanic and Latin, which were spoken by pagans! Horrors!)
