Exploring flow wand / levitation stick

Just before Christmas 2015 I became intrigued by flow wands. Alexa Lane's practice video showing off her LED Spectrum Flow Wand made me take the plunge. The LED models were a bit spendy for me to jump in sight unseen, but at $20, a no frills model would be worth the risk. I went with the Classic Gold Flow Wand from Flow Toys.

It arrived as promised and after half a day of wondering if I'd wasted $20, I finally got the hang of it. It's the bestest bar trick ever. A built-in dance partner and instant conversation starter. I'm pretty sure that Flow Toys got at least five referral customers out of me last week alone.

Here's me after a few days' practice (Facebook)
This is a few months later messing around before the Bowie Ball (YouTube - Song is "Heroes" by David Bowie)

Flow Toys has some Beginner Tutorial videos on their website, plus they have DVDs for in-depth training. I've just ordered a Crystalline Entity LED wand from Hoopy Frood and will probably try my hand at long string and possibly double wanding at some point.

Here are a few nifty flow examples from YouTube:
Steampunk Flow Wand (Fíne Mâri Seufzer - Germany)
Mandy Leonardo (long string eLite wand)
World on Fire (Street Cirque)
Wand Dance (Viollca)
Crycan Wand Practive 2010
StarLight Flow Wand

I'm currently following the Flow Art Lounge Facebook group which is contains some leviwand activity. The leviwand-specific group that I've found thus far haven't been terribly active.

In case you're wondering, for me, wanding will never replace hooping, which it will never match for cardio and range, but it's nice to add some variety.
