Another guy was in the room today. I was waiting outside in the event that someone was validly using the room. I know how long I take to pump and I pump out a good 5 oz minimum. Out of each side. Most women pump 4 oz total. Eventually I knocked on the door.
A guy answers THROUGH THE DOOR.
I let him know that the room is supposed to be used for lactation purposes. I can't exactly hear what he's saying through the door. Eventually, I ask him point blank, "Are you a lactating mother?"
He eventually opens the door and says he was told that the room was allowed to be used for meditation purposes. If I had been thinking, I should have asked him who told him this. I wasn't able to see his badge. I inform him that it isn't and that it specifically for breastfeeding women. He says he thinks "the rules may have been changed". Not according to the website. Not according to the coordinator and told him to contact her. He says a sign should be put up.
GRR! Seriously. This is annoying me. There are plenty of places that can be used for "meditation". I need a specifically NOT public place to whip out the milk containers and pump.
I'm somewhat glad that I don't use the fridge there. While I would like to, with people who are TEARING DOWN the sign on the fridge that says fridge use is explicitly for lactation purposes AND with people who believe they are entitled to the room, I don't trust someone not to tamper with the milk while I'm away.
