[Background]

[Personality]

The easiest way to describe Yosuke would be a (mostly) normal teenager. On the outside, he’s a cheerful and goofy boy, who has a tendency to get himself in bad situations. (see: garbage can, running into the telephone pole, and getting kicked and slapped by Chie and Yukiko.) But all in all, he’s a good person, despite some parts of him that may be a little…strange.

A lot of those “bad situations” he’s put into is generally his own fault, especially when he’s being…well, Yosuke around the girls. An example of this would be when he tried to bring swimsuits for Chie and Yukiko while they were on the camping trip for the school. On the one hand, it was a nice gesture, but on the other…the girls didn’t seem to take it that well. (Maybe a bit of an understatement, since all the boys ended up getting shoved into the stream.) Yosuke is very good at thinking on his feet, which can be a good thing at times - but times like those, when he doesn’t think things through all the way tend to be when he gets in trouble.

He’s also somewhat of a clumsy person. When he’s first seen in the game, he’s seen trying to juggle between riding his bike and holding an umbrella. Unfortunately, his plan didn’t get very far, when he ran into the telephone pole. (Souji just…left him alone that time.) The next time he’s in a predicament, he was seen rolling around in a trash can. How could he manage that? Who knows.

There’s also an odd quirk about Yosuke, which is the fact that he’s strangely homophobic. This is to say, he’s afraid of people who like a person of the same gender. When he suspected that Kanji liked “dudes”, he made an effort to keep as far away from him as possible, as if it was contagious. At any point possible, he would sneak an implication about Kanji’s sexuality into the conversation. Just that point alone would make Kanji lose his temper, a thing that never seemed to make Yosuke give up on his claims.

Have I mentioned that Yosuke’s really good at pissing people off?

Though on the flip side of that, he also has a little bit of a temper himself. Sometimes it can be over silly things, like when Chie charged his account at Junes for clothes for Teddie. That particular incident ended up with most of the others leaving them to their fight, since neither of them was budging on that matter. However, on a more serious note, he loses his temper a couple of times while trying to solve the murders in Inaba. One of the most notable times that he did this was when the team realized that Namatame probably wasn’t going to be able to be charged properly for his crimes. In that case, Yosuke grew angry, yelling that they needed to throw him into the nearby tv, saying that he should be shoved in as punishment. No matter how many times people told him to calm down (he insisted that he was perfectly calm), he kept at it. It wasn’t until Souji came into the argument clam down, this isn’t Neopets!! that Yosuke finally started giving it up. A little.

A lot of his determination draws from what happened at the beginning of the murders - when Saki Konishi was killed. Even though he later found out that she disliked him (which might be an understatement), her name became the fuel that drove him on the quest for the truth. He had quite a bit of loyalty to her, despite her dislike towards him. He would defend any of his friends in that way if it really came down to it.

However, not everything’s sunshine for the teenager. When Yosuke first arrived in Inaba, he believed himself to be above everyone else. He was a city kid, who had moved out into the middle of nowhere, after all. He resented it, and believed Souji was the only one who had understood him in all of that. He had hoped that Souji had thought the same things he did, in that respect. But he didn’t, at least not in that way. In fact, when Souji became the leader of their little rag-tag Scooby Do group and became the “hero” figure, Yosuke started to become jealous. However, he didn’t realize that until later on. But it was as he admitted to Souji - he had wanted to be him, he had been jealous of him. On the other side of all of that, it did mean he trusted Souji quite a bit to even utter those words to them.

[Specialties/Abilities] A

Yosuke has a Persona - a being that manifests when he was faced with his “true self”, or his Shadow. Since getting his original Persona Jiraiya, it has since transformed into the persona Susano-o via completing the social link with Souji. The abilities that will be coming with Yosuke are:

Garudyne: Large Wind damage. 1 foe.
Magarudyne: Large Wind damage. All foes.
Diarama: Moderate HP recovery. 1 ally.
Brave Blade: Large Physical damage. 1 foe.
Wind Break: Nullifies Wind Resistance for 3 turns. 1 foe.
Masukukaja: Increases Agility for 3 turns. All allies.
Sonic Punch: Light Physical damage. 1 foe.

Besides fighting with his Persona, Yosuke also fights with a pair of kunai - so he doesn’t depend wholly on his abilities in that arena.

[Affection] Doesn't matter to me! Yosuke will stare at any girl that comes by so...
