Work

For the past several weeks, I have been cross-training in another position at work. This position helps with receiving stock at 6am and then only orders from a single vendor around 11am. This process takes several hours, and is very numbers-heavy. As in, check up to 700 lines of product and change the quantities we're ordering to case quantities. But do it by using math. Where do you get the numbers? Oh, from this other screen. What? Yes, there are three different numbers. Mmhmm, for each line.

So yeah, it's like that. Except today, as I was about 100 lines from completing the task, my boss mentions to me that I will have to shut down the program due to a software issue across the board. This meant rebuilding the entire order. Now, just cherish this little nugget for a bit while I divulge to you the rest of the story.

Yesterday, due to a water main breaking in our vendor's warehouse, we were under the impression that our order would arrive sometime around 1pm today. It usually gets to us around 6am. And one of the other guys was going to be there Saturday for something so he was going to do the order then and just have me check in the 1pm order. Sweet. I got to go in at 8am instead of 6am today. Sweeter.

I get to work and... the order arrived at 6am like always. wtf?! Oh, and there's no paperwork for the order. WTF?! Also, you'll be doing the order after all. OMGCRAI! (insert mentioned nugget to be cherished here) WHAIYOUDOTHEEEEEES?!

I had gone so fucking insane by the second time I hit line 400 that I started laughing over the epic fail that this day was. So now? I drink pinot noir and forget about the whole thing.
