The weather normalized somewhat. It is a lot warmer, but it snowed like hell for a while. This really does not look and feel like spring.
I am charged with planning the network change that the office will undergo. The people who set it up before, where obviously not specialists. The setup is extremely messy and I am stuck paying for it. Not to mention the fact that there is a serious lack of documentation. I have to write a document for everything more than general maintenance.
Today, an important decision has been made. I will move OekakiCentral.com to a new location. That means I will have to bring the server down for a few days, as data is bring transfered and information will need to be updated and tested. This will cost me an arm and a leg. 69.95USD per month, plus 149.95USD setup fee, plus 75.00USD custom work. This will mean nearly 300USD for the 1st month. OUCH. I better get some serious donations soon.
I am planning a new OekakiCentral.com structure. I really need to get those *sessions* to work. Once that works, I can start reconstruction of the site. Everything in the back will change. And some stuff facing customers will also.
One thing I pondered... would people people 20$ per year to have 500 megs of storage and 3GB of transfer per month? If they did, I could make the server nearly SELF-SUFFICIENT.
