Congratulations are in order to
ndanukiwi, who recently explained that the reason she hasn't posted in two and a half months is that she's pregnant. Having not posted for four months, I now feel obligated to stick my head up and assure people that I am not, in fact, having twins.
I won't try to post somethings summarizing the past four months (it's that kind of thinking that keeps me from posting. That, and I'm lazy.) I will instead share with you a thought I had whilst scrubbing mold from the bathroom ceiling. I think this will illustrate why I shouldn't have thoughts very often, and the fact that this is from three months ago should illustrate the fact that I don't.
The Monkees theme song is actually quite ironic.
Hey, hey, we're the Monkees
And people say we monkey around
But we're too busy singin'
To put anybody down
Other people criticize the Monkees, it says, claiming they're not serious musicians; but the Monkees themselves are too busy actually playing music to cast similar insults. Except that this comparison is clearly a criticism of their critics, who are both wrong in their dismissal of the Monkees and hypocrites in wasting time putting the Monkees down (indicating they can't be too busy creating work of their own). The words "we're too busy singin' to put anybody down" is itself a putdown.
There are other examples ("We're the young generation, and we've got something to say -- Hey hey, we're the Monkees" is just too obvious) but my searing insight was limited to those particular lines.
Actually, I take back what I said earlier. This post does summarize the past four months.
