It's the same colouring as the rest of the Kristen ones, it's just the first row uses some gradient layers that's all :D

Umm… yeah… 2 of the steps involve Selective colouring. :)

Oh… I've never heard of GIMP. Have you heard of the community icon_extras? It has a lot of colouring tutorials and I've seen them have for other programs apart from Photoshop just look at their tags list.
