Weather and things

So the nights are getting colder. I've found I had to throw extra blanket (sleeping bag) on the bed to stay warm at night.

I'm a little depressed about this, actually. Admittedly, I've never been one with a high cold tolerance. Despite that I love places that are cold-inclined climates, and no matter how many years I've lived there, I was never very cold-adapted. It didn't bother me much, though, since I loved the places.

But now, not only am I even LESS cold-friendly than I was before, I'm also starting to turn into some kind of heat retainer. Like, mom and my sister were hot in the apartment (it was 82 or something like that) and I was perfectly comfortable. There were these poor band people from Oregon doing a mini-show on campus today and you could just SEE how much the heat got to them, whilst I was standing there going "hey, it's a nice, balmy 90 degrees! Why're you sweating?"

I think I'm adapting to the desert heat and in some ways this makes me really sad. It means I'll have to re-adapt to cold when I finally move back to colder climes, and unlike adapting to heat, the cold is actually painful for me (like, it gets in my bones and makes them ache, seriously).

But I still get sick in the direct sun at high noon, so I guess thats good? Though it's not so fun when you almost pass out during tennis.

And now for something completely different!

There was a band at school today, playing outside the theater called The Underscore Orkestra. oblivion_jones, I think you'd have liked them. They were a very pleasant surprise on my way out of class, and get this! They even played the song I had been listening to when I saw them setting up (Amarizi Amari). There were above mentioned band people, by the way, and the poor souls looked hotter than boiled lobster.

There was this HEELARIUS scene though. Some brass band (and by brass I mean trumpets and French horns and the like) set up near the quad, which isn't that far from the theater, WHILE the Orkestra was playing, and started playing. They weren't close enough to hear what the people were talking about (because there was a small group around them) but brass tends to be loud and they were almost drowning out the other band despite their speakers. I give the Orkestra members props for continuing to play without a complaint. There were plenty of "WTF?!" looks to go around though. The brass band left after about three or four songs, and I STILL have no idea what that was about or why they would act so rudely (since I think they were part of the college band and it seemed really really rude, especially since it looked impromptu on their part). I'm glad they left after only a few song, because the rest of the Underscore Orkestras' set was really enjoyable, even if they seemed tired/wilted a bit from the heat and stuff.

(and, omg, I could smell them. I think they're vegans, the kind that don't wear deodorant, and in cold climes thats perfectly acceptable if you don't do much sweating, but down here you have to contend with the heat and not staying hydrated like you should and...well at least they were outside. But I was a good 10 feet away...)

Took my math test this morning. I don't want to talk about it.

Also got my score on the lecture test for botany. ONE POINT. I JUST NEEDED ONE POINT FOR A B. And after looking over the questions I got wrong, some of them made me want to tear my hair out because of their ambiguous phrasing. Like "The site of protein synthesis". The answer was, apparently, "ribosomes", but I put in "rough endoplasmic recticulum" because, well, that's where most of protein synthesizing happens on a base of ribosomes! And thats what we talked about when we talked about protein synthesis! But apparently...whatever, it's no use crying over spilled milk.

ONE POINT.

I have the in-the-bar-with-Russian-dancing scene music from Fiddler on the Roof stuck in my head. I think I'll watch that before I go to sleep since we have it from the library. I'd really like to own it though XD

Done.
