I bring you sketch of Joes character Trent Stone.
I'm not sure which one of us is having more fun with this character. We literally spent like 4 hours on the phone talking about him & developing some story for him (and his creepy ass arch nemesis who I will HAVE to draw because he's just that creepy and evil and sexy). I did a couple of sketches, but this is the one I liked best because it somehow is both angular and round. Even though I don't like the eyes on this one. My normal style is, if you can't tell, rather roundish. Getting angles on people is hard for me, but I'm trying.
OMFG GUISE I SUCK. Like seriously. I used to be able to do proportion and stuff, but now if I try anything below the shoulder I need a reference because I've completely forgot! Not that references are bad, but it's still annoying. The difference between one I do with a reference and one I don't do with a reference is really astounding and really annoying.
Also, though I know it's both a matter of opinion and one of those things where "the grass is always greener on the other side", but I sometimes wish I had a different style. On the one hand, I think my style is pretty unique for what it is. On the other hand, sometimes I wish I could do more graceful drawings, or (oddly) more cartoonish ones. I feel like my drawings are somewhere in the middle of anime and disney and it's just a bit awkward. And yet, I don't really have any intentions of trying some major overhaul on style, so why am I even complaining?
Also, I need to get a sketchbook. Can you believe I don't have one any more? I'm using PRINTER paper. I feel so dirty. XD
On another note, I feel like I'm getting a rash from I don't know what. No, seriously, I don't. Just all of a sudden in like the last hour I've been getting these bumps that itch a little on my arms and when I scratch them they come away a little bloody. WTF?! Not a whole lot of them, but still.
