A small fraction of the Mandrills' diets. I've been taking care of a pair of mandrills for a month now and they leave tomorrow. I like working with them, because they are very smart and interactive. I'm glad that they're going to their exhibit, where good friends of mine will be providing excellent care and attention and training. Taking care of them is hard work for many reasons, not the least of which is that they are very messy, and one must wear lots of protective equipment (old world primates can carry diseases that humans can get--after all, we're old world primates too) and the room is already very hot. I've spent much of the mornings this month drenched in sweat. The best part of being the hospital zookeeper is the animals change constantly--not all the keepers would like that, but I do.
