Ah weekends in the (almost) summer. A piña colada slurpee enjoyed at the backyard picnic table. By practicing
Assal Horizontology for most of the day I found some creatures:
A long-legged fly spent some time on the arm of my Adirondack chair.
Then there's this crazy thing!
Reggie is officially spoken for, and goes to his forever home on Wednesday. He's a good one--woulda kept him if we were in the right spot.
But my good boy is still the main dog around. Notice any other animals in this picture?
Pretty big for the species (Thamnophis sirtalis) at about 18 inches*. Hope he's eating mice and baby chipmunks, as well as the slugs and redback salamanders he's probably catching (or she).
*Wikipedia says they average around 22 inches, but I usually see much smaller individuals. Tempted to catch this one and measure it next time I see it.
