We stayed in Astoria, but we went over to Warrenton, where we saw the wreck of the
Peter Iredale.
It was very windy, but we found a shelter made of driftwood to duck into.
That night we went to
Lower Columbia Bowl, where they have a mural of the seaside view, complete with trolley and log ship. (Very similar to the view from
our motel!)
The next morning we went over to
Astoria Column, a 125 foot structure decorated with murals depicting the Columbia river's history and importance to industry.
This indigenous person seems less than pleased to have first contact with white settlers.
The mouth of the Columbia is visible from the column.
Also my dad.
We got back on the road to see the beautiful coastline of Oregon!
