Urban Nature Pictures 11/07

On Sunday we went to the Lost Pond Reservation. I was surprised at how many mushrooms I found, despite how late in the fall it is.

I was about to take a photo of a dead leaf on the moss when I noticed this little mushroom (possibly a Mycena) poking out of the moss-covered stump.

Another translucent beauty was on the ground nearby.

This members of this group of Ganoderma lucidum mushrooms are all in different stages of decay.

A lovely little clump of Stereum ostrea polypores, on a mossy log decorated with the detritus of the season.

A pigskin earthball amid more mosses.

This mushroom is unknown to me, but possesses undeniable dignity.
