If the US president's wife is called the first lady, why isn't the vice president's wife called the second lady? If the president gets divorced and remarried during term is the second one called the second lady? Are presidents allowed to have been divorced before? What happens when a woman gets elected? would their husband be called the first lady? My friend's mother is Mayor of Mildura. Her husband calls himself the first lady.
