royal crown revue + the mad caddies - fucken great. the audience was weird at times, bunch of inconsiderate idiots who should get a room or smoke less dope or watch where they're waving their cigarettes or something, but nonetheless, the music was really good. I think I was a bit overtired to appreciate it as much as I'd've liked, but it was great nonetheless. I wanted them both to play for longer though. Royal Crown Revue just have so many great songs, it's inevitable i'm going to wish they played something else. Can't complain too much, they played Watts Local, Zip Gun Bop, Hey Pachuco (with the usual mind exploding series of solos, including the drummer drumming the double bass strings *drool*), Stormy Weather, Come Fly with Me and that version of Viva Las Vegas that just makes my eyes water, it's so good.
In short, I was well pleased.
against all odds, i enjoyed my hockey team's trivia night, too. Kat brought EmJoy as a surprise and Tori got the evening off work, which was also unexpected. We had a very impressively punk table, Tori wore rollerskates! Impressed I was. We lost spectacularly. Not surprising, since it was eighties themed and most of our table was born in the eighties, while the rest of the table was breastfeeding through the eighties. Penny performed her Adam Ant song, she had a shirt of the union jack made of GLO-MESH, I was very impressed. The only question we knew the answer to with confidence had to do with Full House. I don't know what version of the Eighties they were remembering but it had nothing to do with anything I lived through - there was no mention of punk, the Karate Kid, teenage mutant ninja turtles, basically anything that was good for the entire decade. a FARCE, i tells ya. And i didn't make a scene. how disappointing.
now i am sick like a dog. a sick dog.
