I"m glad you are able to parent yourself because wow, your actual parent is showing a real lack of maturity in their response!

You have made a difference to me. You gave me an adventure in California, you've given me helpful answers when I've needed them and you have shared some fun sounds and music. Some people are born knowing a direction, then there are the rest of us who are working at simply finding happiness wherever we can as we weren't given clearer instructions in our lives.

I've decided to prioritize my life for happiness and have been picking out things every day that, in small incremental ways, fulfill that goal. It's not exactly a direction in life, but it is helping me to enjoy it. Oh sure, there are things I do like working that don't seem quite aligned all the time but they are contributing to me being able to acquire the happy things I want. A regular sleeping schedule has also helped. Eating well (which I suck at) also helps. But direction? I don't got one either.

You are among the happinesses in my life. Thank you for being there.

Thanks! That's so sweet! I know I enjoyed the times I spent with you, too, and am still grateful for the wee or so you opened your house to me when I visited back east.

I should mention, though, that fortunately this wasn't my parent, but a parent I observed doing this. I felt like saying something, but figured I'd better not start any fights, so I brought my response over here, where it wouldn't be seen.

My mother would possibly have said something like that, though, but I've learned long ago never to share any thoughts like that with her. That's probably one reason I was so ticked off when I witnessed the other parent offering this "advice".

Yes, I had a real "momma bear" reaction to that one. :) Still, glad to have a chance to say all of that. :)
