First, to all you modemers: what the heck was the name of that Citadel software that Smeagol ran for a while, and everyone freaked out over MCI codes? For that matter, what was the name of that other Cit software that got kind of popular? I think it started with a "G". Goldadel? Gargamel? Grendaldel?
Second, I guess I should stop delaying commenting on two movies I saw days ago. Caught most of Julie and Julia, which was pretty much what I expected from the first moment I heard about it: half interesting (the Julia Child part) and half stupid (the rest of it.) I don't know about the real blogger or the book she wrote about her blogging that this movie was based on, but the character in the movie is terribly self-absorbed and not very interesting, because she never comes to terms with her self-absorption or achieves anything in any way. In fact, her husband encapsulates the message of the movie as "the stuff in your head is more important than us real people, dear."
The other movie was The Big Heat, another Fritz Lang movie. Very good film noir with a sparser style than what we commonly think of as noir. Not as good as Scarlet Street, I think, but pretty extreme.
Oh, and I recorded and watched Amélie. Not sure if I should review that, since I've only seen it about 30 times.
