I got a new phone. Not only did I get said phone for 50 bucks, but I bought it used to keep myself untethered to AT&T with a contract. I don't mind being with AT&T, but if something new comes down the pipe, I'd rather be able to change plans without worrying. My new toy is a Pantech Matrix dual sliding phone. The dual slider is that it has a full qwerty keyboard on way, and then slides out for a numberpad the other way. It's decent. Takes some getting used to, and I wish I could delete the hotkey that makes the first custom choice to jump on the browser, since I don't use my phone for internet and have no dataplan, but what you gonna do?
I also bought a 4 gig memory card, though I need to pick up the adapter since it's one more middle of the road phone that has no 3.5mm jack. Why the hell don't phone companies put these in all phones?
So, I now have a camera phone, a qwerty keyboard and soon it will work as a usable mp3 player. Groove. There's also something awesome about buying a used phone in the parking lot of a middle eastern grocery and 7/11 from an arabic guy who says "If anything is wrong, my friend, just call me!" as we do the deal. Sweet.
