I got back down south from visiting my parents in the Bay Area a couple of days ago. I know! It's almost unbelievable. I used to travel (usually internationally) every year for my birthday but stopped as Bailey got older because I didn't want to leave him, fearing that if something happened to him while I was gone and unreachable, I'd never forgive myself. He died ON my birthday last year and this made me think of how how glad I was I was home with him and how, as awful as it was, how much worse it would have been if I hadn't been.
