An open letter to an old friend

Dear Kurtis.

I was walking by the Coles in the City Center Mall today and happened upon the book Inheritance by Christopher Paolini and it made me think of you. It made me think about those times in high school that we spent ripping the earlier installments of that quartet apart and the fun we had doing it. Made me think about those times when we were rather pretentious in our thoughts on writing and literature and I hope we're not like that now. I really hope we're not like that now.

But yeah, it made me realize that a lot of time has passed and we've found ourselves stuck in adulthood. Just made me think about how much time has passed and all the things that have happened. Hell, Paolini finished his book series and that's probably an accomplishment in itself. We haven't spoken in a while and I don't know what you're up to these days but I hope you're well. I don't even know if you'll read this but if you do, great, and if you don't, then you don't.

But I saw that book and it made me think of you. I guess that's what really matters.

Megan.
