The thing tells me it's been three weeks since I last updated, but to me it feels like years. Not that a lot of out-of-the-ordinary things have happened, mind.
I went to England at the end of October/start of November as it was Angela's parents' 30th wedding anniversary. We left at 3 a.m, got there at noon and got bugged by Angela's mother. The woman is the most faffy and overbearing person I've ever met. It might be a cliché about inlaws, but JESUS, woman! You don't have to help me buckle my seatbelt! I'm 24 years of age, dammit. I can drive too.
Other than some brief incidents of things like the above, my stay was nice. I went to see some friends in Leeds, had some dark and golden ales in a pub full of old men with hats and caught up with people. It was good.
Today was the first day of real winter, with the streets all icy and snow-ridden. It's like a plague, that snow. A plague that tourists come to watch and take pictures of. I saw a busload of chinese tourists fall down in the street. It was hilariously domino-like. Other than that, winter comes with it's usually darkness. I don't remember winter being this dark when i was a child, but maybe I never really thought about it. These days it gets dark at 2 p.m. Bleh.
I've been getting closer to doing journalism stuff full-time, as well. I might be getting a job at a magazine called Mobile. It's about mobile phones. I told them I knew everything about mobile phones, which I suppose isn't technically a lie - I do work for a mobile phone operator at the moment. I just neglected to mention that I basically deal with billing complaints and information flow. The magazine people seemed really interested, and they will be getting back to me within a week with a... deal, I suppose you could call it.
In addition to this I'm doing some kind of article on environmental politics for some hippie magazine. I'm probably the least-hippy person I know though, as far as, you know, hemp clothing goes, so we'll see how it goes (I'll have a nice cotton blend, thank-you-very-much). There's plenty of subject matter to deal with, at least.
I started redecorating my flat a couple of days ago, as it was messy, horrible and dark - in short, somewhere a student might live. Luckily I am no longer a student. It is the time for a change! I've picked out some more book shelves from some catalogues (IKEA, eugh), along with a little bedside table with glass drawers, some picture frames (bought today), some pots, new HUGE tea cups, a carpet and some bits and bobs. Today I also got big jugs labelled "COFFEE" and "TEA". I put tea and coffee in them (clever, me!). The end result should be good.
