summer breeze

Summer is coming. Today I walked to the local grocery store to get something to eat. 3 people asked me if I was going to the beach. I wonder if it's because my hair is curly today and I'm wearing a little turquoise cotton dress...maybe.

I was going to get a gourmet pie or something to eat, but they didn't have anything I wanted and I couldn't work out what I wanted anyway. So I perused their lovely deli condiment wall, then went to all the other shops.

I came back with

:: strawberries
:: avocado
:: bananas
:: soft greek fetta
:: croissant
:: freshly sliced ham from the organic butcher

I made the croissant up with ham, avocado, cranberry sauce and brie and baked it in the oven for 10 minutes. It was amazing.

I'm now sitting here with a plate of strawberries dusted accompanied by buttermilk vanilla ice-cream, thick cream drizzled lightly over the top and caster sugar on the strawbs - it brings out the juice in the fruit.

AND the most wonderful Merlo french-press coffee.

Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to just eat like this all the time, not worry about my size, just eat as my body and taste buds desire. I think I would become a little rounder, fleshier, softer...sleepier.

summer, food, my life
