It was the hottest day of the year so far...

I hate summer. It's got to be the hottest day of the year so far.

I moved my laptop out into the other end of the apartment, thinking it's got to be cooler out of direct sunlight. I'm pretty sure this is better, and I still feel like I'm dying.

I was going to try and get some writing done, but there's just no way. I'm too hot to think straight.

And as if this wasn't bad enough, they've picked this week- today, to be exact- to start resurfacing the parking lot at my apartment complex. Can someone please explain this to me? Because I do not get it. I'm not sure if the asphalt-laying is making the weather worse around here- probably not- but it feels like it, and I'm sure it can't be helping.

What really sucks, though, is that if they weren't out there making the neighborhood a toxic waste zone, I could be sitting in the pool. Which is what I'd like do be doing. But...no. I'm sweltering at my kitchen table instead. Skimming throgh eBay listings of stuff I'm too tired to buy even if I really wanted it, waiting for the postman or the UPS guy, waiting for Diamond Select Toys to deign to let me know if they're going to be able to send me the Willow's Spellbook set I ordered two weeks ago, cursing my bad luck. I can't even read the crappy young adult series books I picked up from the library, which are tailor-made for days like this, because I didn't realize that I'm missing one. The same book, naturally, which the library didn't have. Checked out till July, which is when what I've got now is due.

And Buffy season 5 is a bit depressing. I like her mom! Knowing she's going to die is not of the cool.

But hey, it could be worse, right? At least the paving guys have stopped shaking the building. For now.
